Traditionally in the Indian Culture, Holi is a festival that is celebrated to usher in spring, where it is believed to represent color and vibrancy. Adapting from the idea of Holi, Let’s Play Color (LPC) is a ground-up initiative by the Guru Project that aims to celebrate Singapore’s cultural diversity through fun and inclusive elements such as dance, music and of course color.
As such, the event would kick start with the splashing of colored power, symbolizing the celebration of unity beyond the color of one’s skin. It would also be complemented with lots of other culturally entertaining activities such as live music, dance and even street food – amalgamating aspects of the various ethnic groups. Periodic mass dances incorporating ethnic elements would also be conducted by our invited dance groups, to further bridge the cultural gap that exists in our community, and to celebrate each other. At the end of the day, the Guru Project hopes to create a space for our participants to meet and have fun with people of various backgrounds, and to embrace each other for who we truly are beneath our skin.
